The Storm Prediction Center's (SPC) storm report for just one intense day in the Great Plains - May 7, 2002 - shows 170 hail reports (green), 46 wind reports (light blue) and 40 tornado reports (red). The hail spread over much of the Great Plains region, but the SPC's documented reports of high winds were mainly over central Kansas and western Missouri, while the tornadoes clustered over central Kansas.
