Explosively Developing Cyclone December 11-12, 1995--Wind

WIND

During the period 0400 UTC 11 Dec to 1800 UTC 12 Dec 1995 a complex weather pattern was affecting the eastern Pacific. The most dramatic meteorological occurrence during this time was the explosive development of a cyclone and its subsequent movement northeastward to a position just west of the Washington coastline. The latter event was accompanied by hurricane force winds from the Monterey Bay Area northward to British Columbia. Peak winds in the sealevel areas of the San Francisco Bay Area were in the 70 to 100 mph range and in the hilly areas as great as 134 mph.
