Homework 1

Part A

1. Print the application for CCM status;
2. Turn in the application at class next Friday. Make sure to include your actual address, email address, etc. We are treating this as if it were "real life."
3. Fill out the application with the following "fictions":
1. Assume that you have whatever terminal education degree that you envision--make it up;
2. Assume that you have five years of consulting experience;
3. Assume that your background is what you want it to be realistically (for example, you have been an on-air meteorologist for five years; you have worked for the National Weather Service for five years)
4. If you got a graduate degree, imagine what your thesis topic would be, and assume that you wrote a thesis with that title -- make it up, be creative;
5. Assume that you have publications consistent with A, B, C and D...make up some publications, using standard AMS format.

Part B

What are the four purposes for certification of consulting meteorologists by the American Meteorological Society? (You can find the answer here.) Be ready to discuss the general criteria for AMS certification next Friday).
