Our planet Earth is covered by a thin atmospheric layer where most of our weather takes place. However, there are not many people understand how weather works. Therefore, a group of highly trained meteorologists is spending their time dealing with the atmosphere and its phenomena. As a matter of fact, they are extremely important to the public because some of them use their meteorological knowledge to provide their best weather forecast everyday. Some of them pursue their careers to provide their specialized meteorological knowledge to someone who hire them as consultant meteorologists. To assure its professionalism, the American Meteorological Society (AMS) therefore offers a certification for consulting meteorologists. To be a certified consulting meteorologist, the one needs to have in-depth understanding of the atmospheric and its behavior. I apply for the certification because acquire of it means an affirmation of my high standard of technical competence and experience over the meteorological field. Professional aspiration is also one of my motivations for applying the certification because I always want to help others with my expertise.

The importance of certification to me or someone else with some kind of specialty, such as specialized in mesoscale meteorology, is to help clients whoever hires a consultant meteorologist to solve or give advice for whatever the clients need. A certified consulting meteorologist gives confident and reliability to the clients who seek for meteorological consultation, because certified consulting meteorologists are recognized by AMS, a widely acceptable meteorological organization in the United States. Therefore, getting a certification is significant to consulting meteorologist.
