Assume that at the 500 mb level over a station in southeastern California (shown as a black box on the accompanying charts) the sensible heating term is zero.

In computations, please remember that WXP reverses the sign for some of the quantities shown on these charts. Remember to use the CORRECT sign in calculations.

Compute the 1-hr 500 mb temperature tendency at the station. In calculating the term -w(∂q/∂p), use a ∆p of 100 mb centered at 500 mb (you will have to interpolate the potential temperatures).
