You are given the single-station RAOB data for PIA (20 UTC, 8/28/90)
and PAH (00UTC, 1/8/89). In answering these questions, be specific
as you can. In many cases, Johns and Doswell refer to specific
values or ranges of values, and in others, just general constraints.
Make sure you refer to these specific values or constraints.
1. Evaluate the data for the following:
a. Risk of deep severe convection; (Section 3)
b. Risk of supercellular convection; (Section 6b1,2,3)
c. Risk of large hail; (Section 4)
d. Risk of damaging downburst winds; (Section 5, 5b)
e. Risk of tornadoes (Section 6d)
2. Evaluate the risk of strong or violent tornadoes for each
case, using the tabular data for each case and plotting on Fig.
18.
3. Examine the HODOGRAPHS on the SHARP. Evaluate potential for
splitting supercells, and/or preferential development of either
right or left mover for each case. Make sure you discuss.
